Glimpses of Innocence

by Ken W Simpson

The undying glow
rearranges and changes
translucently hovering
then fading behind
the evanescence of a twilit sky.

Old photos, silent and discrete
sit inside albums and frames
memorials to the past
where daydreamers swam and lay
beneath gaudy beach umbrellas.

They strolled hand in hand
to the end of Heartfelt Lane
vulnerable to vapid violins
dissolute trombones
and blessings from the damned.
