Desires
by Suman Pokhrel
Desires play eternally.
I am watching,
the desires, ignorant of destiny,
play inside the heart
as children.
While they are at play,
they break the dolls that are in the heart,
they scratch the walls of sympathy,
they pill out the petals of feelings,
shred into pieces and chuck away.
Desires are unaware that
the human-being is living a delicate life of scarcity
standing on the mound
of ruined wills .
that have not collapsed knowing that they should not.
Desires are innocent, and are valiant.
they romp over the edge of soul
they shake the branches of heart,
and ride on its broken pieces.
At times, they bump over the soul shaking its foundation
they break apart the cover of the heart
and spill the feelings all over.
I enjoy collecting
and stitching together the broken pieces of heart
exactly as assembling the pieces of the dolls that my little daughter breaks.
I love these childlike desires, and their games
that remind me the liveliness of life.
I salute these desires.
If desires did not come to play
my heart would equally be empty as myself.
And, without letting me know,
life would have been escaped from my eyes
ages ago.
