Envy

by Robert Lloyd Jaffe

I am insanely jealous?
how he crawls into her arms
and uses up his tears
while she pets away his fears.
I am insanely jealous?
how the cats, brothers,
wrestle;
while my brother's heart is cold
as metal.
Some place and day,
my heart always promises,
I'll find a peaceful way?
and even if I find nothing
while reaching out for love,
on my shoulder will rest
a sleeping dove.

ABOUT THE POET ~
I am an observer and listener of the music of life. Where I find cadence, I find my interest and passion directed. It can be sound, light, smell, or purely an experience of thought. The sky, the sea, the mountains, and the machines that allow me to explore those places draw my attention, and give me serenity.
