Lament of the Cave Family

by Robert Lloyd Jaffe

Oh how the stars above us look
so grand
it’s peaceful here with you
in the dark.
Those lions can’t touch us now
even if the meat smells good.
Mmmm…your warm body
feels so nice
and the smell from between
your legs.
Do you think they will ever find
us here,
or have any clue who we were?
They will know us
as we know them, I guess?
they will love, have children,
and die,
as we have.
Let’s just keep
writing on those walls.

ABOUT THE POET ~
I am an observer and listener of the music of life. Where I find cadence, I find my interest and passion directed. It can be sound, light, smell, or purely an experience of thought. The sky, the sea, the mountains, and the machines that allow me to explore those places draw my attention, and give me serenity.
