The Boss

by Robert Lloyd Jaffe

Let’s have another one
of those talks?
the kind where we
have to close the door.
I don’t hear much
but the love in your eyes
and I love the stories too;
can’t you tell?
“It’s easy
when it’s easy,
and tough when it’s tough”;
hey?I get it.
Why can’t we ever say it?
Is it wrong
that we’re both so proud?
Close the door
so they won’t see us?
we’ll be misunderstood
in front of the crowd.

ABOUT THE POET ~
I am an observer and listener of the music of life. Where I find cadence, I find my interest and passion directed. It can be sound, light, smell, or purely an experience of thought. The sky, the sea, the mountains, and the machines that allow me to explore those places draw my attention, and give me serenity.
