The Dog

The furry creature lifts its nose
As it stands on its large
Hind legs,
As the Brittany spaniel displays
Its keen effectiveness.

The dog, this animal,
Is a sentient being—
It knows emotions—
Happiness, sadness, fear, guilt,
Surprise, anger, fatigue,
Enthusiasm, and stoicism.
It feels what the owner feels,
Complying to what its master wants,
For all it has is love for the
Man and woman who raised it.

It smells things that no human can possibly smell,
And alerts its master for what danger comes his way.
The dog is extremely loyal,
To the day of its death,
And is willing to give its
Life to its master,
As Christ gave His life to us.
It will fight beside him,
Play with him,
Protect him,
Nurture him,
And give him solace.
It loves its master unconditionally
And will do anything the master
Needs to be done.

The dog is like a child,
Loyal to the end;
Innocence surrounds its heart,
And affection is its motivation.
Man’s best friend truly is the canine,
As the dog will always stand
Beside the master who raised it.
An angel in animal form,
It will forever be.
