In the Sky there is a Heaven

In the sky there is a heaven
for numbers that the naked eye
can never see.
Some will be discovered
with the help of chalk,
as if the misty lens of blackboards
can reveal a further blackness
dusted with new moons and stars.
Some are merely rediscovered
and given names
that look like new.
Finer than us,
more durable than matter,
they are there
even when our heads are turned away.
