Whispering Your Name

Atul Chandra Sarkar

Moments spent with you
Are stars in my darkness,
You are the precious gem
Sparkling
In my lightless mine.
The translucent ice-cube of day
Steadily melts,
In the wine of eventide;
As the opaline radiance of sun-set,
Loses identity in the deepening,
Orange-flecked grey.
Distrait, distracted,
Distraught, distressed,
I watch on:
Frothed waves rushing to shore
Imagining your home-coming!

The breeze has a hundred
And ten things to lisp,
But when it’s your name,
It’s I who silently whispers:
…………………..!
