About ABBA

ABBA is a Swedish pop group from Stockholm. Formed on November 1, 1971, the group originally consisted of Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, and Anni-Frid 'Frid' Lyngstad. At the time of their formation, they were two married couples: Agnetha and Björn, Frida and Benny. The group's name is both an acronym and a palindrome, composed of the initials of the members' first names. From 1976 onward, the ambigram—AᗺBA, with an inverted B—was used as their logo.
Winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with 'Waterloo,' ABBA achieved immense worldwide success during the disco era of the mid-1970s. They became one of the world's best-selling record groups, with sales estimated at 400 million (including 180 million certified records). They enjoyed success in Australia and around the world comparable to Beatlemania.
