About A.R. Kane
A.R. Kane is a British duo formed by Alex Ayuli and Rudy Tambala in 1986. Ayuli claims to have coined the term “dream pop” to describe their sound in the late 1980s, combining their electronic influences (dub and house music), psychedelic rock, and free jazz. After releasing two critically acclaimed EPs, they established themselves on the UK Indie Chart with their album 69 (1988), followed by i (1989), which reached the top 10.The duo broke up in 1994 and sank into obscurity. Some critics claim the band was one of the most innovative and underrated acts of its era. In 2012, the One Little Indian label compiled their music into the album Complete Singles Collection, which allowed the band to reestablish its reputation.
