About Cardi B

Cardi B, born October 11, 1992, in New York City, is an American rapper, singer, and actress. She initially gained fame through the virality of videos shared on Vine and Instagram. From 2015 to 2017, she appeared on the VH1 reality series Love & Hip Hop: New York and began a musical career by releasing two mixtapes: Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 1 and Gangsta Bitch Music, Vol. 2. In early 2017, she signed her first major label deal, Atlantic Records. Her debut studio album, Invasion of Privacy (2018), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. It broke numerous streaming records, was certified three times platinum by the RIAA, and was named Best Female Rap Album of the 2010s by Billboard. Critically acclaimed, it also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2019, making Cardi B the first and only woman to win the award as a solo artist.
It features two number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100: Bodak Yellow, which made her the second female rapper to top the chart with a solo single after Lauryn Hill in 1998, and I Like It, which made her the first female rapper to have multiple number-one songs on the chart. Her collaboration with Maroon 5 in 2018 on their track Girls Like You made her the only female rapper to have three number-one singles on the Hot 100. In 2020, her single WAP, featuring American rapper Megan Thee Stallion, made her the only female rap artist to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in two decades. Up, the follow-up single released in 2021, made her the only female rapper to reach the top of the Hot 100 multiple times with solo songs, and extended her record, now five, as the female rapper with the most number-one singles on the Hot 100.
