Kate Bush, born July 30, 1958 in Bexleyheath, England, is a British singer-songwriter, composer, dancer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. A figure in British popular music, Kate Bush is distinguished by her musical style and the theatricality of her soprano performances. She is sometimes considered an icon in the United Kingdom and a gay icon.
At the age of 19, she became the first singer-songwriter to reach the top of the UK Singles Chart with her debut single, Wuthering Heights . She released 10 studio albums between 1978 and 2011, and had 25 top 40 singles, including The Man with the Child in His Eyes, Babooshka, Running Up that Hill, Don't Give Up (featuring Peter Gabriel), and King of the Mountain.
Kate Bush won the Brit Award for Best British Female Vocalist in 1987. In 2013, she received the Commander of the Order of the British Empire from Queen Elizabeth II.
