About Kurupt
Kurupt, born Ricardo Emmanuel Brown (born November 23, 1972, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), is an American rapper and actor. Known for his work with Death Row Records, he is a member of the group Tha Dogg Pound with Daz Dillinger.He is also a member of the supergroup The Hrsmn (The Four Horsemen) with Killah Priest, Ras Kass, and Canibus, as well as the supergroup Diirty OGz with Tray Deee, Tha Chill, and Weazel Loc, and most recently the supergroup 1st Generation with MC Eiht, King Tee, Jayo Felony, Gangsta, and Tha Chill.
He was notably a member of the Rollin' 60's Neighborhood Crips, a faction of the Los Angeles Crips. In 1991, he made his first recordings on The S.O.S. Band's album One of Many Nights.
In the early 1990s, he met Snoop Dogg, who attracted attention during a rap battle. Through him, he met Dr. Dre and Suge Knight, who, impressed by his talent, signed him to Death Row Records. He then formed the duo Tha Dogg Pound with Daz Dillinger, Snoop Dogg's cousin, and became known to the general public through his appearances on Dr. Dre's album The Chronic.
His first solo album, Kuruption!, released in 1998, is a double album with the first CD being West Coast rap and the second East Coast rap.
