Mariah Carey, born March 27, 1969 in Huntington, Long Island, New York, is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and actress. She gained recognition in 1990 with her debut album, Mariah Carey, featuring the song Vision of Love, which established her as a recognized artist both domestically and internationally. She subsequently enjoyed success with other albums. In 1991, she released Emotions, where she played on the swing effect of the title song with very high-pitched tones.
