Melanie Adele Martinez (April 28, 1995 in Astoria, New York) is an American singer and songwriter as well as director and actress for her film K-12. In 2012, Martinez became a contestant on the third season of the American television show The Voice, where she reached the top six with the help of her team coach, Adam Levine. On April 22, 2014, she released the song “Dollhouse” from her debut EP, Dollhouse. On August 14, 2015, Martinez's album Cry Baby, featuring the lead single “Pity Party,” was released. Her song “Carousel” was used in a trailer video for season 4 of the TV series American Horror Story. On September 6, 2019, her album and accompanying film K-12 were released.
