About Neil Young
Neil Percival Young, born November 12, 1945, in Toronto, is a Canadian-American folk, country, and rock singer-songwriter. He reached the height of his popularity in the early 1970s with the albums After the Gold Rush and Harvest and his role in the band Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young.Neil Young's music is recognizable by his often high-pitched voice and omnipresent guitar. His songs fall into distinct genres: acoustic folk rock with a hint of country, with songs like Heart of Gold and Long May You Run, but also a form of hard rock and grunge before its time, haunting and hypnotic music with distorted guitars found in Cinnamon Girl, Southern Man, and Rockin' in the Free World, often associated with Crazy Horse, the band that accompanied him for much of his career. He also ventured into other musical genres (electronic music, noise rock, blues and rockabilly).
