Tate Rosner McRae, known as Tate McRae, born July 1, 2003, in Calgary, Canada, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress. At the age of thirteen, she rose to prominence as the first Canadian finalist on the American reality television show So You Think You Can Dance. Tate McRae caught the attention of RCA Records in 2019 after her original song, One Day, went viral on YouTube and TikTok. Tate McRae released her first extended play (EP), All the Things I Never Said, in 2020. She quickly gained wider recognition after her song, You Broke Me First, became an international hit.In 2021, she was the youngest musician to appear on Forbes magazine's 30 Under 30 list. Her second EP, Too Young to Be Sad, was the most-streamed female EP of 2021 on Spotify. Her debut studio album, I Used to Think I Could Fly, was released on May 27, 2022. The album received positive reviews from critics and reached the top 10 in various countries, and also debuted at number 13 on the US Billboard 200. On September 16, 2022, her single You Broke Me First reached one billion streams.
On December 8, 2023, she released her second studio album, Think Later, on RCA Records. In 2025, her third album, So Close to What, was her first to reach number one on the Billboard 200, and she embarked on a new tour, titled Miss Possessive Tour.
