Red Box of Memories

The shadows of his face drunk in Vodka and Gin
A leather brushed anguish needles his chin
Killing each moment silently
With pedestrian trivia and day time tv.
He shuffles around the edges of life
Clinging to hope and a greedy ex wife
Crumbs of affection he scavenges for
His dignity trashed his heart on the floor .
A graveyard of dreams fracture his soul
And his eyes burn empty like embers of coal
Renting himself out for trembles of booze
His soul is blistered steaked bloody and blue
Knives or screams won't blunt this pain
So he scores his body over again
Crawling around in a neon haze
His mind is addled with a whiskey glaze
Ripped and cracked with bottles of Jack
They stab him in the knees and twice in the back
His head is swimming in misery
Two gunshots later he's finally free.
