Thanks, I Needed That, Not!

by Glen Martin Fitch

Wooo! what a hateful,
hurtful thing to say.
Most people try
to hide their ignorance.
It's harder then
to take a counter-stance.
At this
I will not blindly walk away.
We will our wants
and push to make that change,
to have things new or
just the way they were.
You crave reaction
from a rough exchange,
but did you think
I'd thank you for that slur?
Just so the noir anti-hero
smacked his femme fatale
as if for her own good.
Who listens, changes
when they feel attacked?
I lean but never lash
although I could.
I'm tempted
just to volley back
your crap,
but no one,
no way,
ever needs a slap.
