Halo Moon

Piercing the brush-stroke sky,
the moon rises full like a mountain.

Its weight at the horizon
hangs perplexedly and thoughtless at once.

What is revealed in its rise and fall?
Who stirs? Who recedes?

When it drops into this inlet
does it sizzle in the catch of water?
