Often referred to as the Princess of Pop, she is credited with influencing pop music in the late 1990s and 2000s. After a career as a child entertainer on The Mickey Mouse Club, Britney Spears launched into music and signed with Jive Records in 1997 at the age of 15. She achieved international fame in 1998 with her hit single '...Baby One More Time,' which became one of the best-selling singles worldwide. ...Baby One More Time was named the greatest debut single of all time by Rolling Stone in 2020. With the release of her second album, Oops!... I Did It Again, in 2000, Britney Spears became the best-selling teen artist. With first-week sales of over 1.3 million copies, Oops!... I Did It Again held the record for the best-selling album by a female artist in the United States for fifteen years. Spears then adopted a more mature and provocative style with her albums, Britney (2001) and In the Zone (2003), and starred in the film, Crossroads (2002).She has sold a total of 200 million records worldwide, including 34 million albums in the United States alone, making her one of the best-selling music artists in the world.
