Sonnet # 12

by M. Douglas Hoss

Cold planet Earth spinning wildly in the
universe unseen, unheard, unceasing.
What is your destiny and existence
for? Is it for holding just one warm place

amid the coldness of the cosmos? Is
it to validate the reason of such
an obvious perplexity yet discerned?
What are you, where are you going and for whom?

Pointless days which come and go, cold, dark and
without warmth. There is only one place of
pulsing light, of hope, of deity and love.

There is one only true heaven, one warmth,
in the universe; us spinning wildly,
madly, unseen, unheard, unceasingly.
