Last summer I couldn’t swim at all
I couldn’t even float
I had to use a rubber tube
Or hang on to a boat;
I had to sit on shore
When everybody swam;
But now it’s This summer
And I can!

by Carl SandburgNOW that a crimson rambler
begins to crawl over the house
of our two lives—
Now that a red curve
winds across the shingles—
Now that hands
washed in early sunrises
climb and spill scarlet
