Driving

by Robert Lloyd Jaffe

When driving
I’m finding
wise words
and sunlight
blinding.
The music playing
the car
swaying
changing lanes
and thoughts.
When driving
I’m finding
wise words
and rain
feeling pain.
Just wait
when I get to work
I’ll take the time
to save the lines
so I won’t forget.
When driving
I’m finding
wise words
lost in the mist
at work I’m pissed.
When driving
I have found
wise words
and thoughts
profound.
Why didn’t I take
the time
to stop?
Fuck the cops
if they think
I’m a clown
tomorrow
I’ll write it all down.

ABOUT THE POET ~
I am an observer and listener of the music of life. Where I find cadence, I find my interest and passion directed. It can be sound, light, smell, or purely an experience of thought. The sky, the sea, the mountains, and the machines that allow me to explore those places draw my attention, and give me serenity.
