On the Bus

by Drora Matlofsky

A woman of my age
gets up
and offers me her seat.

Does she think I'm old
or does she think I'm pregnant?

Neither of these options is flattering
but it's nice to sit down.

Drora Matlofsky has been living in Jerusalem since 1984. Her poetry in English has appeared in various poetry and Jewish magazines and her poetry in French can be found on the Poésie Française site.
