The Limit

by Drora Matlofsky

'Where is René?'
Mum is furious.
'He didn't tell me he would come home late.
Your father really is the limit!'

The limit of what?
I wonder,
But she is so cross
I don't dare ask,

My father died seven years ago.
I don't dare tell her that either.
