The Coffee And The Rose

by Spiros Zafiris

then, Linda comes to mind
she surfaces from the everpresent
to the ice-cold now
everpresent is softer and more distant
ice-cold is harsh and in the kitchen

there is a fountain somewhere far
let us toast its cleanliness
may the waters clean therein
soften the poet's memory--
as tender as his heart, his love
