Underworld

Eurydice stayed, abandoned by a glance.
Persephone stays and leaves, moves between
harrowing and rebirth continually.
Her home is the journey between the two,
her place of rest the moment before
she steps into life or death again.
What was at first confusion, grief,
has become a dance of fulfilment
and loss, stasis and flowering.
If there could be some final resurrection,
she would long for it as a haven,
yet distrust it — this is what she knows.
She gathers herself: exhausted beyond belief,
renewing herself through the centuries.
