Native Land

by Frank Sheehan

My Native Land is magical
stretches from ocean to ocean
consists of every type
of person imaginable

It has mountains, forests,
lakes, rivers, canyons, plains,
fields, beaches, anything
you can contemplate

It claims to be
"the land of the free"
This is questionable
as stereotypes, classes abound

It has not been a peaceful existence
with an abundance of Wars, genocide
but still extemporaneous
illustrations pester realizations

driving beauty beyond compare
with a passionate exuberance
that delves into a
magnificent civilization.
