Walk on stranger

by Joseph Marinus

Walk on stranger

Walk on stranger
when you have tasted North,
been cut by ice,
blooded in winter;
your soul was braced –
walk on...

Walk on stranger
when you have tasted East,
your head beguiled
on pillow of dreams;
you were tempted –
walk on...

Walk on stranger
when you have tasted South,
a purple dose
of its lethal sun;
it was forbidden,
but walk on...

Walk on stranger
when you have tasted West,
the last mile gone,
and felled by despair -
finish the apple
and walk on...

ABOUT THE POET ~
For 23 years I have been running a magic carpet of poems by the Thames in London as a wayside poet. I give the poems in coloured envelopes or recite them directly to whoever visits and chooses to take a mental ride. I have written many poems by request or from the happening of the carpet. I have met the whole world and am known to the world by my pen name Joseph Marinus.
