Waterfall

by Robert Lloyd Jaffe

A frozen waterfall,
stopped in time,
waiting for Spring to continue its life.
How can I say that it looks beautiful,
when I know that it is so cold and unhappy?
If I could only tell it to enjoy
this rare opportunity to stop in its life;
to look around and see its tree
and mountain neighbors.
But when the warmth comes,
the water will be replaced by its brothers -
- and not looking back,
will skip and hop like a child in the valley
over moss covered rocks.

ABOUT THE POET ~
I am an observer and listener of the music of life. Where I find cadence, I find my interest and passion directed. It can be sound, light, smell, or purely an experience of thought. The sky, the sea, the mountains, and the machines that allow me to explore those places draw my attention, and give me serenity.
