Eternal Beauty

by Shahid H Khan

I saw a drop of water,
Sitting on the leaf of a tree;
Bathing in a ray of morning sun;
It was a thing of beauty.

It took all my woes away
And filled my heart with joy;
It made me wonder like a baby
Looking at his favourite toy.

The time stopped ticking by,
As I couldn’t move my eye;
Forgetful of all things mundane,
I gazed at it again and again.

Then, came a cruel gust of wind
And blew the drop away:
It ended my moments of glee
And killed a thing of beauty.
