I'm not listening

What's that you say?
Your hearts broken in a row?
That's too bad you see
Wish I had heard a little more.

Don't look surprised
It's nothing new
You weren't there
When I felt blue

I pulled my own weight too
Through the pains of bullying
But I came through
I wasn't complaining.

If it wasn't for you
I wouldn't have had memories
Laughter and jokes
And endless late night stories

It was too good to be true.
You went after them high heeled gals
For the parties and late night drives
And forgot all about the sad dear diary me.

I don't blame you
Maybe I was too simple too nice
Too shy or too quiet.
Just another pair of ears
Listening to you late into the night.

I have this life I say
Where it's not all pretty and rosy
And I fight my demons
Day after day

I may be erratic
And to a point manic
Sometimes overly optimistic
And other times realistic.

I'm not listening
To your drama when I have mine
I face it alone in the night
And in the day when the sun's shining.

It's too much for me to take
And now I switch off
I say goodbye
I'm not listening anymore
Leave me alone for heavens sake.
