Steve Abee, born in 1967 in Santa Monica (California), is an American writer, poet and professor of literature at the Ramón C. Cortines School of Visual and Performing Arts. During this period, his literary vocation solidified, and he worked with poets such as Lucille Clifton and Nathaniel Mackey. The publication of King Planet in 1997 immediately established him as a major figure in Californian literature.
