About Yrsa Daley-Ward

Yrsa Daley-Ward is an English poet, writer, model, and actress. She became known for her first book, Bone, a poetry collection She self-published, written using a spoken-word poetry technique, which was later reissued by Penguin Books with a foreword by Kiese Laymon. In this book, she viscerally exposes her religious upbringing, her life, and her struggles with mental health.
In 2018, she published The Terrible, an autobiographical novel in which she explores her difficult youth, and in 2019 won the Pen/Ackerley Prize for an outstanding autobiographical novel written by a British author.
In 2020, she co-wrote Beyoncé's musical film and visual album, Black is King, an adaptation of Beyoncé's album, The Gift, released in July 2019 as the soundtrack to Disney's The Lion King. She is an active activist in feminist movements and describes herself as an Instagram poet.
