About Andy Jackson

Andy Jackson is a Scottish poet born in Salford but has lived in Scotland for thirty years. He has published several collections of poetry and has edited a dozen further anthologies and online projects. He was Makar to the Federation of Writers Scotland in 2017 and is a Royal Literary Fund Fellow for the University of Stirling. He is co-editor of the long-running broadsheet Poetry Scotland and also works with Lapidus Scotland to promote creative writing as a means of promoting well-being.
Andy’s first collection was The Assassination Museum (Red Squirrel, 2010), followed by A Beginner’s Guide To Cheating (Red Squirrel, 2015) and The Saints Are Coming (Blue Diode, 2020). As editor, he has published Split Screen and Double Bill, two anthologies inspired by film & television along with Tour De Vers, a cycling-themed anthology (all Red Squirrel). He co-edited both Whaleback City: the poetry of Dundee and its hinterland (Dundee University Press, 2013) and also New Boots and Pantisocracies, with W.N. Herbert (Smokestack, 2016). More recently, Scotia Extremis was edited with Brian Johnstone (Luath, 2019) and The Call of the Clerihew with George Szirtes (Smokestack, 2019).
