Toby Olson

About Toby Olson

Toby Olson, born August 17, 1937 in Berwyn near Chicago, is an American poet and writer. He graduated from Occidental College and Long Island University. He taught for a time at the latter, then at The New School in New York City. Since the mid-1970s, he has authored numerous novels and several collections of poetry. Celebrated by American critics, who consider him a disciple of William Faulkner, he lives in Philadelphia, where he has taught since 1975 at Temple University and in North Truro. He received the PEN/Faulkner Award in 1983 for his novel Seaview and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1985.
