About Pleasant GehmanPleasant Gehman (born March 17, 1959) is an American author, writer, poet, actress, dancer and musician from Los Angeles. In the 1980s, she was the singer for the punk rock band Screamin' Sirens, and later, The Ringling Sisters and Honk If Yer Horny. Her articles on rock 'n' roll, American pop culture, sex, the arts and human interest have appeared in L.A. Weekly, The Los Angeles Reader, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, BAM, Spin, and Genre. She is the the author and/or editor of eight books, including the acclaimed memoir, Escape From Houdini Mountain, The Belly Dance Handbook, The Underground Guide To Los Angeles, which spent nine weeks on the LA Times Best Sellers List, and her latest book Showgirl Confidential: My Life Onstage, Backstage And On The Road published by Punk Hostage Press in 2013. She lives in Hollywood, California. Under the names Pleasant Gehman and Princess Farhana, she has acted and danced in music videos-for Madonna, Ricky Martin, Margaret Cho, and many others- and network television shows, including The Nanny.
